Participants may choose to study as many modules as they like for their own learning and growth, without the need to sign up for an accredited course. However, for those who would also benefit from an award, there is one available.
1. Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology (30772QLD)
Groundwork materials can be used to complete a government-accredited, Austudy-approved Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology (30772QLD).
Certificate IV students receive:
•quality reading materials, delivered as an e-book;
•assignments designed to help apply principles from the materials to students’ real lives;
•feedback on assignments and support from a Groundwork tutor (via phone, e-mail, or Skype);
•regular input from a supervisor within their own church, e.g. a pastor or Bible-study leader.
Time commitment and cost
•9 subjects at $400 each (total $3,600)
•Notional commitment of 520 hours for the course — equal to 13 hours/week for 40 weeks over one year (two subjects per school term), or 6.5 hours/week for 80 weeks over two years (one subject per school term). This includes time for reading, assignments, and contact with your supervisor and Groundwork tutor.
If participants are employed as Australian Apprentices, their employer (usually their church) may be eligible to receive government assistance, including commencement and completion incentives of up to $4000, as well as supplementary support for adult apprentices. (Mission Australia can help churches and apprentices to create employment contracts. Access to Austudy and incentives depends on students’ circumstances and is determined by relevant government agencies.) For more information, e-mail training@gospelgroundwork.com.au.
2. Unaccredited
Costs per module — unaccredited (including GST)
Wage earner $50 (spouses free)
Non-wage earner $25
Licence fee — unaccredited (including GST)
Churches may choose to purchase a licence for one or more modules for a twelve-month period.*
When a licence is purchased, the module can be used by as many members of the church in as many contexts as desired.
For example, a church of 120 adults buys a single licence for Good Work: a Labour of Love, at a cost of $750. There might be 15 people using it in leadership training on Sunday afternoons in Term 1, and then 50 people using it in weekly Bible study groups in Term 2. All of these are covered by the same licence. Here is the fee schedule:
*Licences are applicable for 12 months, starting from one of two dates: 1st of January to 31st of December, or 1st of July to 30th of June.
The figures show the cost per module (including GST), payable up front. For example, a church of 100–199 adults elects to study four modules over a year (being one module per term), at a cost of $2000 up front (being $500 per module). The cost for two modules is simply twice the one-module rate.
